need OpenVPN AS instructions for a rookie (Hyper-V)
Looking to install a VPN solution
windows server 2008 r2
currently have 12 virtual machines, can use a barebone one now.... or do i need to build 1 (or 2 for CA also?) can i just point virtual machine#12 to the downloaded VHD?
need to come up with an implementation by thursday morning :p so under some time constraints, first time to install openvpn, and a little overwhelmed
Thank you

the vhd file is for AS version not community one...
installing openvpn (the free edition) is very easy and you
can do it either on linux/win platform.
to configure it properly you must read the docs for a quick howto.

Yes this is a good tutorial on apen VHD to a Virtual Machine. Don't miss any step, especialy when configuring network. Altought I'll test the configuration with Network Adapter not with a Legacy one.

"eth0 error fetching interface information"
Ive set the network adapter to internal virtual network with the settings of Dynamic, and spoofing.
Takes me to the welcome to OpenVPN Access Server Virtual Appliance screen with a "NO NETWORK DETECTED" Please configure your network to use the web management interface.

i know you said to try the network adapters, not the legacy... but this line states:
"Linux requires legacy adapters when running under Hyper-V."
Do you think that could be my issue?
*EDIT: Yes, by changing to a legacy adapter and configuring it, i was able to get in

Network Adapter is more advanced than Legacy one in Hyper-V. It's a frustration that for linux only Legacy one is available.

Re: need OpenVPN AS instructions for a rookie (Hyper-V)
more rookie questions, thank you for patience:
Setup: Hostname is FQDN of server the VM sits on
the eth0 is 10.0.0.51 (same as vpn vm)
AdminUI is currentlly selected as localhost
Client is currently selected to eth0
running test, I get error, could not connect to the test server on the internet
ip address tested (not found)
Reverse DNS Result (unknown)
for both tcp/udp

Try ping the OpenVPN server. Then use web interface.
