I've got openvpn 2.0.9 running on a centos 4.9 server with successful client connection.
Is it possible to configure openvpn so it will notify me by email everytime a client connects and/or disconnects?

Yes very possible indeed. It will depend on your Linux/bash skills.

and Ctrl+F search for: --client-connect script
