Auto-connect client at windows start

Post by starlighter » Wed Jul 27, 2011 11:48 pm

Hello,

i've recently set up an Open-VPN AS machine.
Everything's working great, but I am using it to replicate my AD towards an RODC server, so you see they must both be connected at all times.
And I cannot login to a machine with domain credentials if it's not already connected to the vpn network which hosts the DC.
Is there a way to make both machines (windows server 2008) launch the openvpn-client at startup?
I saw a few tutorials for openvpn-gui, but it is only used for OpenVPN and not The Access Server version.

thank you for your help :)

try enabling the openvpn service and make sure the openvpn service is automatically started when the system boots up.

Hi all,
I also would like to know how to setup auto vpn connect on windows startup using openvpnas. I am using Access Server 1.8.3 and I am able to successfully establish a connection using Active Directiory(LDAP). The OpenVPN Access Client service is set to run automatically but does not start the connection automatically. I need to manually hit connect in the open vpn tray icon.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

In order for OpenVPN's Connect client to start as a service you will need to make sure the user is set as auto-login. Once you connect with an auto-login profile do not disconnect it. If your machine ever gets rebooted etc it will run as a service and automatically connect to the server.

Thanks
