Can't change Network Name or Icon

Post by lolex » Sat Jun 25, 2011 1:26 am

Now this is a very minor and rather cosmetic issue but it still irks me ;)

I'm using OpenVPN 2.2.0 with the TAP-Win32 Adapter V9 on Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

I have two connections in my network & sharing center:
1. My LAN (the actual internet connection) called "Internet" on the screenshot below
2. The OpenVPN connection (called "Unidentified network)

When I click on the first connection I can change its name and icon:

But when I click on the VPN connection the name field isn't editable and the icon can't be changed:

Is there any way for me to change the name and icon of this connection?

Thanks for your time :)

this has little to do with openvpn and all with Windows 7 ; click on the 'merge or delete networks' icon to merge the VPN connection and the 'Internet' connection; you cannot change the name of an unidentified network.
To be honest, this new networking scheme that Mickeysoft introduced with Win7 confuses the heck out of me, and I'm glad to read that I'm not the only one - then again, I am a hard-core Linux user so perhaps I do not want to understand Windows ;)
