I have a plan but will it work?

Hi All,

New user here. VPNs aren't my strong point but I have been in the IT industry for 15+ years so I have a good foundation for getting what I need from Open VPN up and running .... hopefully!

My use case is this: I have a remote broadcast team that take various bits of networked video equipment out to a remote location to cover an event and I need to be able to have a link to them so I can remote control the equipment. They use a network bonding device (running Bondix) so that they have a super resilient connection to the internet but unfortunately, due to the way that Bondix works (or it's limitations), they wont have a WAN IP address that I can contact to gain access to the remote systems. I also need users from various locations to be able to connect to the remote systems too so my plan is to send the team away with a router (currently, I have a Draytek Vigor 2979 that I hope to use) that is able to VPN back to the Open VPN server hosted on Linux on a hosted virtual server in the cloud. My other users will also be able to VPN in to the same server.

If I understand correctly, all users AND the Draytek router will be on the same subnet if I set the Open VPN server up with bridged networking? if this is the case, it would be really useful for me to have all clients on the same 'LAN/subnet' as some of the video technology we use allows me to view the video streams over the LAN as long as it's in the same subnet. This can be done in other ways if this isn't possible so it's not a big problem if not.

So what I am asking here is if my theory above is possible before I go ahead with budling the solution? Is there anything I should be aware of?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
