Run OpenVPNConnect from Windows command line

Post by flexmcmurphy » Tue Nov 10, 2020 10:38 pm

Apologies if this is the wrong forum but I couldn't see one for the OpenVPNConnect Windows Client!

OpenVPNConnect V3.2.2 Client on Windows 7
OpenVPN server 2.4 on Raspbian OS

I am trying to ntlm authenticate with a proxy. When I read the reference manual it states...
"–http-proxy server port [authfile|’auto’|’auto-nct’] [auth-method]
Connect to remote host through an HTTP proxy at address server and port port. If HTTP Proxy-Authenticate is required, authfile is a file containing a username and password on 2 lines, or “stdin” to prompt from console."
I assume this means it it possible to run the OpenVPNConnect V3.2.2 Windows Client from the command line so that you would be prompted there for a username and password? I know there are other ways to supply a username and password but I want to run the client from the command line and supply parameters, such as a username and password, that way.

Is this possible?

Thank you,

Flex

To answer this question myself..

My problem was that I was using the OpenVPNConnect client when those instructions referred to the OpenVPN GUI Community (Open Source) version... which is actually a client and server rolled into one.

And perhaps this question was better suited to the Community Project > Server Administration forum anyway.
