How to host .ovpn files on web server
I see in a lot of client programs (such as OpenVPN Connect), you can give a link to what I assume is the ovpn file, so, I tried doing that myself. I hosted my .ovpn file on my website, and when I linked it to it via the url (https://www.example.com/file.ovpn), it wouldn't work, it said something about invalid certificate or something. It works when I provide the file manually hosted on my client machine.
So my question is how to host .ovpn files on a web server, and If I did it incorrectly, tell me what I did wrong and how to fix it.

You didnot buy certificate from certificate authority and you save money on create your own certificate . It is not going to work as you want.that is why it said something about invalid certificatewilluhm wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 6:41 pmI see in a lot of client programs (such as OpenVPN Connect), you can give a link to what I assume is the ovpn file, so, I tried doing that myself. Openvpn not run as web service so you need other vpn technology which can run over web so that you can do what you want.
Many vpn over https you can choose from .there are slot freeware too so simple question have very simple answer.
Client profile must be downloaded to local hard disk and run from that.you can host profile for download but not a link to run
