Hostname of connecting client

We are sharing certificates for clients. Is there any way to receive the hostname of the client in the server connect script? We use the common_name currently, but this is the same if shared the certificate of course. A wild hack would be to dive into the host (ssh) when connected but this is really a dirty hack.

Any hints?
