OpenVPN Connect Disconnects

Hi!
Just installed OpenVPN Connect yesterday, and every once in a while, I'll notice that the VPN status icon isn't on at the top of the screen. What might be causing my VPN to become disengaged, if that is the case? How might I insure that it's always on? I'm using the same server on my desktop machine, so I do not believe there's an issue with remote connectivity. To the best of my knowledge, I do not believe that iOS 9 shuts down processes on its own, and indeed, the OpenVPN Connect app appears to still be running when this occurs. Double-tapping the Home button shows a peek of the running apps, and in that window, OpenVPN Connect shows "Connected", yet there is no VPN status icon at the top. When I "open" the app, or rather, open the app's interface, it attempts to connect automatically, so it's not clear to me what state my VPN connection was in. Does OpenVPN Connect go into sleep mode when the phone does? Must I always remember to initiate the connection, i.e., open the app, when I want to use the device?
Any advice you can offer will be appreciated.

Just go to Settings-OpenVpn, turn on Seamless Tunnel. It will allow you to stay connected during sleep.
