Hello,
I am looking to set up a very basic VPN so I can access a network share on 'server' PC from a client on another network.
Before I go any further let me explain; both server and client are windows machines (8.1), I am attempting to build a simple test environment which if successful will be implemented in a larger way. (Don't worry I won't be doing the proper install!)
Here's where I'm at so far;
I followed this guide: https://community.openvpn.net/openvpn/w ... dows_Guide pretty much to the letter, with the following exceptions;
1. Replaced all references to "C:\Program Files\OpenVPN" with "C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenVPN" as I'm running 8.1 64bit
2. When it comes to "Copying the Server and Client Files to Their Appropriate Directories" I found some of the files where not located in easy-rsa but rather easy-rsa\keys so I copied the files from there instead. I also made a copy of the files in easy-rsa just to be sure.
I have forwarded UDP 1194 to the server
I have configured the server to use a static local IP
I am not running as a service but am running as administrator on both server and client.
So....the problem;
The client can connect to the server but I cannot access the network share on the server from the client. In fact I can't ping the server from the client, or vice-versa.
I assume to offer any help you'll need to see certain log files, please advise what is required and I'll post them.
Thanks in advance!
Dan.
