Connected but not working on Android 5.1.1

Hello

I have setup OVPN in what looks to be a successful way but I'm finding net traffic from my phone is not going through it. For example, my phone IP address does not change when I connect.

My setup is a Windows 7 "always on" computer with a static IP address and running OVPN. I followed the install guide and each step worked with no errors.

OpenVPN on my phone was setup by importing the client files. It does connect, very quickly, and shows connection to the correct IP address for the server. Android shows the OVPN and key icons on the top bar. However, my IP address does not change and the traffic stats in OVPN Connect do not increase.

Is there anything obvious I have missed? Or recommendations on where to start? The only thing I noticed is some OVPN Connect guides mention a username and password entry but I never had a chance to enter one.
