I have a DIYer who's eyes are probably too big for his head. He wants a VPN solution to protect him from harassment in order to torrent, but wants his iPhones/iPads to talk directly w/ the PC for file access. To me, pay the extra freight for each client and everything's maintained professionally. I think an easy-to-maintain/support pay-once alternative solution is a DD-WRT router w/ a built-in OpenVPN client. He gets a proxy w/ encryption for torrents and the iPhones/iPads talk via an encrypted connection to his PC, for file xfers ?
This is doable, as described ? Never tried anything like this before, but it sounds like it shud work. Basically, he expects to be in the same state as his home-office PC to access files from his iPhone/iPad and wants to eliminate the middle-man for VPN services to/from his iDevices. TIA for any feedback....Duke
Is Pos ?: Using Service as a Proxy and Private Server ?
