Which version of iOS are you running?

Re: URGENT iPad update 1.0.2 has broken the app
I'm not the OP, but I'm having the same problem on iOS 5.1.1 and an iPad 1. Download appears to go fine, installation gets ~90% through, then a dialog box says that it can't be installed at this time. I have not tried deleting and reinstalling yet--wanted to see if my configurations could survive first...
Fantastic app--thanks for figuring out the technical and/or policy hurdles to bring OpenVPN to non-jail-broken devices!

Re: URGENT iPad update 1.0.2 has broken the app
So after the install of 1.0.2 fails on iOS 5.1.1, what is the state of the app?
If 1.0.1 was previously installed, does the 1.0.2 update render it unusable, or can you continue to use 1.0.1?
If the install failure leaves the app in a broken state, can the app be uninstalled, or is it stuck in a state where it can neither be used nor uninstalled?
With the 1.0.2 release, we are now building a "universal" binary to support both ARM 32 and 64 bit platforms (the iPhone 5s and IPad Air use ARM-64), but I've seen reports that iOS 5.1.1 can become confused by the presence of the 64 bit code, and that it may crash rather than do the correct thing and simply ignore it.
In any event, we will follow up with Apple and try to get this resolved.

Re: URGENT iPad update 1.0.2 has broken the app
With 1.0.1 previously installed, then performing update, the update will go through the process of "dowloading" then "installing" at approximately 75% of "installing" the label changes to OpenVPN the progress bar remains at 75% and a popup appears saying:
Unable to Download Application
"OpenVPN Connect" could not be installed at this time.
And presents the options:
Done
and
Retry
Done exits the installer with the icon appearing as described above.
Retry restarts the entire process.
Selecting the icon after hitting "Done" then starts again at "Installing" and the process repeats.
Deleting the app and then returning to the app store does not change the result. Neither does rebooting, clearing browser cache, memory, and then attempting to download/install, or any combination thereof.
The app is therefore in an unsuable state. Unless of course what you are wanting to do is simply watch it try to install over and over again.

There's a draft of your choice at City Beer Store from me awaiting he who is responsible for update if this gets fixed before Friday.

Re: URGENT iPad update 1.0.2 has broken the app
Thanks Imhaffner for adding more detail. I am using iOS 5.1.1 on an iPad 2, and I have precisely the same problem as you - app update installation won't complete so the pp is unusable.

There are 2 thread already on this, this one and: topic14548.html
I am also having the same issue (iPad 3 iOS 5.1.1).

Re: URGENT iPad update 1.0.2 has broken the app
I have this issue as well - iPhone 4 iOS 5.5.1
I know that the Plex team recently encountered this kind of issue as well.
They recompiled and resubmitted with a bunch of fixes - but never explicitly called out what the issue was.
I know that the App Store also has the means to publish and older IPA for down level clients who cannot or will not upgrade to the latest iOS.
Might I suggest that this be turned on if iOS 7 will be required as a base going forward? I was perfectly happy with the older client but took this update in a batch update of all apps on my device. Even older devices can still make use of the older apps. For now my iPhone is completely incapable of installing/upgrading this version and now I am sadly without remote access to the home or office.
Thanks,
Andy

Same here on iOS v5.1.1lambcourt wrote:Downloaded new update - will not finish installing - app now unusable. Fix today please or refund for subscription?
Deleted the app and restored the older version that I had on my pc in iTunes and added the configuration files. Now back to normal.
1.02 will get to the end of install then pop up an error message with "retry and done" buttons, any one you press it will retry and always with the same result.

Re: URGENT iPad update 1.0.2 has broken the app
It appears that the iOS 5.1.1 installer will crash if exposed to apps that contain 64 bit code. We have filed a bug report with Apple about this. Until Apple resolves this, we will be raising the minimum iOS version to 6.1 for the app.
Currently we are using Xcode 5.0.2 to build version 1.0.2 of the OpenVPN Connect app, and this version of Xcode builds a "universal binary" containing both 32 and 64-bit versions of the app, so that it's compatible with all of Apple's devices. This version of Xcode is able to build universal apps that target iOS 5.1.1 and higher. But apparently there is a bug in iOS 5.1.1 that causes it to crash when exposed to the universal build containing 64-bit code.
Unfortunately, there's not much we can do at this point to work around the issue, because we have to build a universal binary to support the iPhone 5s and IPad Air. So unless Apple figures out a way that iOS 5.1.1 can accommodate universal binaries that contain VPN plugins, we won't be able to support 5.1.1.

Thanks James. So can I get a subscription refund until it's fixed? Or can you give an easy way to downgrade back to previous version of your app?

Re: URGENT iPad update 1.0.2 has broken the app
I can understand this is not your fault, but how about making 1.0.1 available for older devices that cant be upgraded to ios6+ (and those who dont want to upgrade) ? It would be definitly not be a version you would give "support" for but would allow us to use it again. From what I understand, Apple provides a way to keep an older version for older devices and newer versions for newer device.jamesyonan wrote:It appears that the iOS 5.1.1 installer will crash if exposed to apps that contain 64 bit code. Re: URGENT iPad update 1.0.2 has broken the app
We've already submitted 1.0.3 to the app store which will raise the minimum supported iOS version to 6.1. Once this becomes the active version in the store, we will try to take advantage of a new app store feature that would allow us to continue to offer 1.0.1 to iOS devices below 6.1:

I think you version is too old. You may delete your app and download the new one, or just change your provider. I never had such a problems, because my OpenVPN proveder http://faceless.me/ gives me security when I'm working on my iPad.

Re: URGENT iPad update 1.0.2 has broken the app
I am also affected by this update.
I read in the posts before that there seems to be a roadmap to the solution (make the old version available for the ones in iOS 5.1.1), but, is anyone able to provide a date for this to happen?
