Scope of OpenVPN Connect

Does OpenVPN Connect tunnel all of the traffic from the iPhone/iPad, or does it merely offer you a web frame that you can do tunneled browsing in -- only encrypting the traffic generated when you have the app open.

OpenVPN tunnels all traffic (OSI layer 3) or specific subnets pushed the server.
