I'm connecting to Server 2008R2 from Windows7 perfectly fine as far as OpenVPN is concerned, but I can't ping the server on 10.8.0.1 and can't access any of the files. Is there some security setting in Windows 2008R2 that might be blocking this? I know the firewall isn't stopping it, thus my connection.
I've basically gone with the default server config file for the server and client.

Re: Connecting with OpenVPN but can't access
Ok, so I have no idea what happened, but it's working now. Firewall was correctly opened. I had changed this line in the server.ovpn from:
server 10.8.0.0 255.255.255.0
to:
server 10.9.0.0 255.255.255.0
It didn't change anything as far as fixing my problem; HOWEVER, when I switched it back, it started working.
I only made the change in the first place because I couldn't ping the server after I connected, so I thought, hmmm...let's change the vpn network address. LOL When that didn't work, and I changed it back, my problem disappeared. I guess I have to write this one off to Gremlins or OpenVPN just "clearing its throat."
I know ... OpenVPN gurus are reading this, shaking their heads thinking, "Pshhh, newbies."

Re: Connecting with OpenVPN but can't access
I'm having the same issues... Tried the change to the server file that you suggested, but it didn't have any effect (which it shouldn't I think
When I connect (WAN connection is via WiFi tether with my phone) I'm assigned 10.8.0.6 (DHCP is supposedly via 10.8.0.5), but I can't ping 10.8.0.1-5
My router (and Windows 7 x64) have the same UDP port opened.
But as noted I cannot connect to and browse shared folders on the server.
Any thoughts?
(Do I need to provide further information?)
Thanks!
