Bridge Mode - Non Windows Clients

Post by daveram » Thu Sep 13, 2012 4:10 pm

I have setup a OpenVPN AS running v1.8.4 [Vmware Appliance] in Layer 2 bridge mode. Using Windows clients, everything works fine. However, when I try to use my Apple to connect using Shimo, I connect however I dont get a secured IP.

I know it says in the GUI that this is a limitation and may be removed later. Is there any way around this? If I build an OPENVPN server not using the newer OpenVPN software not using the AS, will that remove this limitation?

My main reason for using bridge mode is, in order to backup my machine [using Apple's Timecapsule], I need to be able to send multicasts out and receive them back. In Layer 3 mode, this is not possible. However, in Layer 2 mode it is.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
