Using non-standard port? [Port 100 or Port 8, etc]

I was wondering if I could use port 100 or 8 since China has been known to intermittently block port 1194 and port 443, and almost all the time in Tibet and Xinjiang, but I was thinking that it wouldn't be encrypted or something and I haven't seen a single post in all of Googledom that mentions using anything else other than 443 or 1194.
So far I've been using port 100 on one of my VPSes and it works just fine plus my IP is disguised, but I don't know if my connection is encrypted over port 100 or 8.
