The goal is accessing my file server in the office; while offsite\home. I have configured the OVPN Server in a VM running on hyper-V; I can ping to the internet just fine from the server. The challenge i'm having is when i try to connect over the internet via the client, I get that "server poll time out" error. OVPN troubleshooting says
A common mistake that is made is that people set up the Access Server on a private IP address but neglect to set up a proper FQDN DNS name for it, and configure that FQDN DNS name in the Admin UI under Server Network Settings in the Host name or IP address field.
However I am not clear on what they mean or where i should do that; i understand where i would configure the FQDN within OPVN; but where should i create it? A bit more information that may be useful:
- My I do not have a static public IP address
- I seem to be receiving two ip-addresses from the ISP; when i enter the router i see IP address X; but when i query my IP from an external website tool i get another ip-address
