Network Bridge Issue

Post by clovus » Thu Nov 26, 2020 2:40 am

So first of let me just say I'm not an experienced user and have looked over the "How to" section but not found a solution to this problem.

I have a Ubuntu server with a windows client. I'm bridging the clients OpenVPN TAP adapter to my Ethernet adapter in order to share
the VPN connection with my PS3, which is connected to the client computers ethernet port.

I know I could use ICS on Windows but I need the PS3 to have the same IP address range as the TAP adapter. 10.8.0.X. Problem with
ICS is that it uses a separate NAT and so the IP is 192.168.137.X on the PS3, which is unreachable from any other client connected to the VPN.

I assumed a Network Bridge between the Ethernet and TAP would solve that. But the PS3 is unable to automatically assign an IP through DHCP.
I also tried entering the same static network info from the TAP adapter and changing the IP on the PS3 to 10.8.0.4 instead of 10.8.0.2 so they don't conflict and that didn't work either.

To clarify I just want my PS3 to be connected to the VPN with an IP like 10.8.0.4 so I can ping it from another device that's also connected to the VPN on an IP like 10.0.8.3. Also I'm talking about client side bridging not server side bridging.

Anyone know how to get the desired result?
