Save username/PW - Updated for 2020?

My goal is to get the OpenVPNConnect for Windows to save my username and password. To that end, I read several solutions, including one here, it involved opening your conf and adding a couple lines. The problem is, I don't know how to open my config, and all the writing assume that I know this, also they were all written several years ago, and I expect things have changed a little since then. So, how do you do it?
