I need a bridge between two sites, but i see the tap device is always 10Mbit and speed test show that i never can go over the 8Mbit/s.
The whole sope is that i'm going to bridge over a Gbit line and use it all.

Re: Linux Tap device 10Mbit
Hi,
Thanks for the quick response. I saw this post also here on the forum, but i did tests and it was not possible to bypass the 10Mbit !! in bridge mode.
Therefore is was searching on my servers and found out that it was the tun device that seams to be locked on 10Mbit.
I'm still wondering if this is with the latest versions of openvpn 2.1 because i had once a bridge in 2006 with version 1.6 between two sites and no one knows we where bridging servers on a nother site.
The tests i have done with a dual 6 core 24MB ram server and just tunneling also show that it's impossible to go further them 240Mbit/sec.

Heya,
Sorry, but I need to clarify. Are you operating a bridged or routed connection? You've indicated that you're using the tun device and are operating a bridge. Is this correct?

Hey,
I'm sorry that i have made it not quite clear.
I'm using a bridging connection with a tap device, as mented in my first topic.
I have tried now two older versions of openVPN 1.6and 2.0.9 just to be sure but i'm always stuck at 10Mbit with iperf speed tests.
