ios client cannot connect to my vpn server

Hi. I am having a problem trying to get my IOS client to connect to my server. I am using OpenVPN 2.4.7 on the server and I followed the easyrsa instructions to create a ca, server crt and several client certificates. I used the easyrsa build-server-full and build-client-full to do the creations. However when the IOS client tries to connect, I get the error message that the certificate is not correctly signed by the trusted ca. The only thing I may have done differently is that I appended the <ca </ca> <crt </crt> and <key> </key> to the client config rather than using separate files. What am I doing wrong and/or how to fix.

I have some more information. I tried to use the same client on my Mac, and I get no cert problems, but it keeps restarting the connection -- only thing in the server log is connection reset.

I hope someone can help with this one, I can attach the whole thing and start a new pki, if necessary.
