OpenVPN with Google Auth - Keepalive and avoiding Re-Auth?

Post by autonomy » Wed Sep 05, 2018 1:31 am

Hello,

recently added google auth to my VPN setup for a few employees. its not used all that much aside from one person, and they're now experiencing inactivity causing a reconnection, which requires the google-authentication again. im sure as you can imagine this would get annoying.

in the openvpn server.conf of course theres the keepalive setting, which i've upped to 10 minutes, but again still annoying.

is there any recommended way around this? which is not going to trigger the google-auth again and again? aside from extending the keepalive period to extremes, say 1hour or 6hours etc?

That is not how --keepalive is meant to be used. You probably have a new problem ..
