I am currently trying to get my phone to serve as a WiFi hot-spot whilst letting all traffic go through OpenVPN Connect through a VPN-server. I'm working on a Huawei P9 running android 7.0. Somehow my phone won't assign an IP-address to devices connecting to the WiFi hot-spot, resulting in no internet-access for these devices. Only if I disconnect from from the VPN-server, does my phone assign IP-addresses. How can I solve this issue (e.g. get *all* phone traffic running through a VPN-service whilst having a WiFi hot-spot active)? Hopefully somebody has some more experience with this issue, as frustratingly my VPN-provider can't help me.
Sorry for the bad English, not a native speaker.
Thanks in advance.

Re: OpenVPN Connect in Combination with WiFi Hot-Spot
You can try to exclude the hot spot range from VPN (192.168.42.0/22 iirc). OpenVPN for android allows you do that in the UI, not sure about OpenVPN Connect.
