Ver 1.1.17 doesn't work on Samsung S5

This has been driving me mad for days.
OpenVpn has worked on my phone for ages with no problem at all. I finally had to set up an openvpn connection on my laptop to verify my server side was working which then pointed to the phone being the problem.
The phone has recently done an upgrade to Andriod Marshmallow, so suspected that might have something to do with it, but then I found out that Open VPN has also been upgraded recently.
I dug out a 1.1.16 apk version of OpenVpn, installed it and hey presto, up and working again in less that a minute!
I can't be the only person to have this problem surely?

The problem you are experiencing may be due to Mbed/Polar SSL issues which occur when certificates do not have the correct date format. See this thread: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=21873

Same problem here... On S5, just upgraded from 1.1.6 which was working perfectly, to 1.1.17 which doesn't.

I verified Certificate #1
151112192155Z : correct UTCTime date length per RFC 5280
251109192155Z : correct UTCTime date length per RFC 5280

My log file on the phone shows:

Creds: UsernameEmpty/PasswordEmpty
Peer info:
IV_GUI_VER=net.openvpn.connect.android 1.1.17-76

Then it goes to a EVENT: CONNECTION_TIMEOUT

If there's info that I need to post, let me know - am on mobile so it's a bit difficult at the moment.
