I have been looking to create an offsite micro nas for some of my data, I ended up testing this with a Cubieboard 2 on Debian 8, I have a stable connected from my Cubieboard 2 to my home network via the VPN however I was then trying to create a bash script that would connect to the VPN and after the connection established it would then run the rsync backup, i have searched online and found multiple "similar" examples but nothing that actually combines both the automatic OpenVPN connect then the rsync then dropping the OpenVPN connection.
