openvpn app no longer working on Iphone

hello all,

Just looking to see if anyone else is having the same issue. I use HMA as my VPN provider and when using my IOS devices my preferred protocol is OpenVPN, which i use with the OpenVPN connect app. In the last month I've suddenly had issues, where i can still connect to servers with no issues, but when i check my IP address, its exactly where i am, rather than pointing to the requested country.

Wondering if its the latest IOS update that's changed something or if i have by mistake. ( I'm having no problems getting things to work via HMA app and IPSec, but would prefer to get back to OpenVPN.

My location services are turned off and i have tried deleting app (and server data) then reinstalling , but I'm still getting the same problem

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Same problem here and reported it since the first public Ios 9 beta was available.
Seems like no one reads the forum.
The issue for me was, that i used ipv6 and ipv4. As a workaround i disabled ipv6 on my server and now it works fine again.
Hopefully this will be fixed, since i cannot stick to this configuration.

thanks for response and confirming its a known issue, oh well, guess I will stick with HMA's own app and IPSec for now

Ive confirmed with Mullvad that right now the OpenVPN Connect app does not work on iOS 9. It will connect but
none of the traffic transports through the tunnel. There is an update to check in on their end to update the app to run on iOS 9 latest version.

This seems to be the same issue I am experiencing. See the response here viewtopic.php?t=19977 about update-resolve-conf config for Linux they mentioned, which I think is unrelated to OpenVPN failing to create an encrypted tunnel. I do think it's bug 614 related to double stack traffic v6/v4 traffic and IPv4 leakage
