OpenVPNed iPhone mirror to Apple TV

Hello,

This is my first post ever because I couldn't find the answer anywhere, usually I get all of my VPN related answers from this forum but this time I believe my situation is different. Here is my setup:

I am running Tomato on ASUS AC68U and I have setup OpenVPN as well. (10.100.0.1). I am running PLEX server as media center. (10.100.0.5). I use OpenVPN when ever I need to access my media from outside (I have unlimited CellPhone Data). I Connect to OpenVPN and then run Plex App which can media from my local server. This setup is run under IOS and Android without any issue.
Last week I was at my friend's house (different city) I used his WiFi to connect to OpenVPN and pulled media files. My friend has AppleTV and I was thinking to run my media on my cell phone then AirPlay on this AppleTV because I was on his local network. But it did not work. I checked my local IP it was issued by his router (192.168.1.34).

Is there any way to do this? I have setup my friend's iPhone with my OpenVPN files but he is not able to AirPlay the media.
