Leak!

Post by Andy O » Tue Mar 11, 2014 7:49 pm

After upgrading to iOS 7.1 the connection is reestablished like it should be. That's cool.

Unfortunately it's not blocking the unencrypted data anymore. I can write a quick message via internet before the VPN-connection is ready. I can do ip-check and it is showing my real IP and few seconds the data is insecure.

I don't know how it works when push message arrives. I think it might leak too.

You of course already know this, I think, but I did not find this information nowhere.

Please fix this problem, and this app is perfect!

The VPN tunnel is only active and encrypting data when the app is in the Connected state.

Yeah, but ain't it supposed to block all unencrypted data?

Because it's not. I mean that before, as I've understand, it has done so.

Unfortunately, right now the app can only guarantee traffic encryption when it's in the Connected state. We're working with Apple to try to resolve this, so that we can offer a "Seamless Tunnel" feature that would block all non-VPN traffic even when the VPN is in a pause or reconnecting state (such as during sleep/wakeup cycles or when transitioning between networks).

I think the issue you are seeing with iOS 7.1 is that the bug that prevented automatic reconnection in 7.0.x also had the unintended side effect of blocking all traffic. So unfortunately, the resolution of this bug is negating that accidental feature of blocking all unencrypted traffic.

Okay,

That cleared things up. I hope that Apple understand the urge to get usable VPN application, and appreciate your hard work on this issue. Alas they don't do a Jacks shoe about it.

Keep up the good work!
