Several weeks ago I deleted a no-longer-required certificate from my Android key store (Settings -> Security -> Trusted Credentials -> User) but OpenVPN still thinks the certificate exists.
When I start a new connection in OpenVPN, the app prompts me as usual to select a certificate to associate with the VPN profile, but the list of certificates includes the certificate I deleted previously.
If I select the deleted certificate the connection fails (as expected), with the error "OpenVPN core error : PolarSSL: ca certificate is undefined", so it's pretty obvious the certificate no longer exists and this is just a stale reference to it.
Rebooting the Android device doesn't clear the problem.
How do I remove the spurious reference to the deleted certificate from the OpenVPN Connect app?
Remove references to deleted certificates?
