openVPN + ioS openVPN connect app-pause (network unavaliable

Post by mapito » Sun Jun 29, 2014 4:27 pm

Hi all,

I have an openVPN setup running on xubuntu 13.10 and it works fine..connecting from 2 windows clients..works without any issues, however having a couple of problems using openVPN connect on iOS to connect to the server

Using a .ovpn file with inline certificates as there's no other way to store the cert/keys on ios

the device is an iphone 5s

anyway - when the phone locks..after you unlock it the openVPN connect app will be saying (pause network unavaliable) ..but the network is avaliable and if i disconnect i can reconnect immediately and everything works fine - but while in this pause network unavaliable state i cant access the internet

I've asked in the irc channel/posted here before/searched and cant find anything

I can't see what I'm doing wrong..but i'm surprised not read anyone else with this

If anyone has any ideas on how to solve this...or maybe how to make the openVPN app auto reconnect after going into the pause network unaval state it'd be greatly appreciated

below is the log from the openVPN connect app and a screenshot showing the status;

Re: openVPN + ioS openVPN connect app-pause (network unavali

Hi,
I have a similar problem.

I have an iPad with GSM/LTE. If I have the Cellular Data enabled (the GSM/LTE modem on), the OpenVPN client gets confused and it is not able to re-establish the connection after I have unlocked the screen. Sometimes I have to even kill the app as it is not able to reconnect even if I trigger the connection manually.

The only solution I have is to disable the Cellular Data and use WLAN connection only. Then it is able to re-establish the connection without major issues but it forces me to do some extra steps when I´m on the move using LTE.
Regards
Jofre
