client install on Win 8.1

I´m trying to install OpenVPN-Client on a win 8.1 Laptop.
Installation works fine (run as administrator), i get an tap device installed.
But when I try to connect to the server, there don´t appear any log entries in connection window, after a while I get a "couldn´t connect to" message.
There doesn´t exist a logfile in Programm-Directory/log.
I tried with 2.3.3 64-bit and 2.3.4 64-bit and 32-bit with no luck. Disabling Firewall didn´t help either.
Any ideas what I´ve done wrong?
