Re: OpenVPN Connectio iOS and new iPhone 5S
Hey all,
Just wanted to give an update: Iphone 5s support is on track for a mid December release. We are close to finished with the dev work but then we need to put it through our QA process and submit to Apple. Keep in mind, it takes some time for Apple to approve apps in their app store. We have to jump throug a few more hoops internally to get tested due to the fact that it deals with their vpn api.

OMG December... when i submit an app to the appstore it takes 4 days. Sometimes 6 days but never more then that.
But anyway.. Big thanks for the fix and we are all happy in December.

hi Andrew,
thanks a lot for the update... good to know you are going on although two months is a long wait!
Fingers crossed it will take less.

Hello Andrew can you confirm that the 64bit version will take advantage of the new AES instructions on ARMv8, it should dramatically increase battery life

I can't really get into specifics but it is not the same process that you would go through with a typical app unfortunately.marcelkraan wrote:OMG December... when i submit an app to the appstore it takes 4 days. Sometimes 6 days but never more then that.

I cannot at this moment (partially because I was unaware of this). I appreciate you bringing the info forward and will have the right people look at this.vzm wrote:Hello Andrew can you confirm that the 64bit version will take advantage of the new AES instructions on ARMv8, it should dramatically increase battery life

Re: OpenVPN Connectio iOS and new iPhone 5S
We have discussed this. I don't have the reason as to why it hasn't happened yet but I will forward this to our lead developer and see what info I can get from him.fSeka wrote:Hi Andrew,

Re: OpenVPN Connectio iOS and new iPhone 5S
Hi guys,
First post on here
So I've been using OpenVPN for a while now and across many platforms, and welcomed the iOS version on my iPhone 4, and then iPhone 5 with open arms. Bravo for finally bridging that gap for so many users.
However when I purchased my iPhone 5S which I'm sure you know is the first 64-bit iOS based device, the OpenVPN application launches and that's it.
When I click on the toggle to enable my connection manually it slides over to the "On" position and sits for a few minutes and eventually goes back to "Off" with no errors, no messages, and the server doesn't even see the attempt to connect.
The logs do not increment at all, they're completely blank.
I understand you guys are probably working on this, and I appreciate your hard work, but we could really use some information on this, please give us some kind of heads up on when this will work again?
Any information is appreciated, and thanks for what you guys do.
I've included my profile below, thanks.

Re: OpenVPN Connectio iOS and new iPhone 5S
I can confirm it does not work on new iPad Air. It works on my iPhone 5 on iOS 7.
With the iPad Air, I get the same issue as dStruct. Also, since I try to connect via cellular data, I can see that there is no entry for openvpn in Settings > Cellular Data > User Cellular Data For.

I have this problem to !
but it works with iPhone 5C , so I think the problem is due to 64 bit.

BTW, here is the console log of my iphone 5s
From this log you can clearly see it's complaining on architecture.

Re: OpenVPN Connectio iOS and new iPhone 5S
I don't understand what's so hard about reading the thread before posting blindly into it. If you read back (not that far) there is a post stating that yes, it's architecture related, and a new build will hopefully be out mid December (in no small part due to the extended application verification that openvpn is subjected to because of what it does).
Tapped on my phone - excuse any typos, abbreviations, etc
