Incompatible with Android 4.3

Post by vipp » Sun Jul 28, 2013 4:49 pm

After I updating the Android to 4.3, I found a show stopper when I was trying to connect to a server.

Use case:

1. Click the icon of OpenVPN;
2. (I already have an imported profile and saved password) Click the Connect button;
3. System pop-up an Attention message to confirm if I trust this application.

BUT, the checkbox of "I trust this application" is unclickable, which makes the OK button is dimmed. This case stops me to establish a VPN connection due to the unclickable of OK button.

Do other VPN apps have this problem on Android 4.3?

Hello,

Just upgraded to Android 4.3 lastnight on Nexus 4. I'm experiencing the same issues. Cannot tick the I trust this application box. I can only click on cancel.

I hope this will be quickly sorted out!

I did get a response from an Android developer at Google that he is using OpenVPN Connect with 4.3 and hasn't seen any problems. So this may be a handset-specific issue. He also suggested:
Maybe they have some system window overlay which makes touches to secure windows filtered to prevent tapjacking. An example of the system window overlay is one of those quick bars that stay at a corner no matter what program you're in.

I had the same problem yesterday when I'd just updated to 4.3 (Nexus 7).
But today the "OK" *IS* available as usual and it works as expected.

After reading Jamesonan's post. I realised that I had screenfilter running
yesterday (because ot was night) but today it's NOT running.

Just tried enabling and disabling screenfilter and it seemd like that's what's
making the difference.

So if people have screenfilter or any other kind of overlay running,
try disabling it and see if thst helps.

Thanks for you posting James. It helped me at least.

Thanks james and tth. According to your post, I found the conflicting software which named Lux Lite Dash. It helps to adjust the brightness automatically (better than the built-in one). After stopping it, the checkbox is back to normal and CLICKABLE, awesome!

Is this a bug of Android 4.3?

Indeed thank you for your feedback guys!

Turns out I was using the overlay application "Twilight". After disabling it I was able to tick the I trust this application box.

Just wanted to say thanks for this thread. I was having issues with various VPN related apps in my Android 4.3 devices and it was only through this forum I learned it was caused by Lux Auto Brightness.
