Advice on troubleshooting possible network problem

Hi All,

I've got a problem I need to troubleshoot, just looking for some pointers really.

I have a simple set-up of OpenVPN 2 on Ubuntu server 9.04 running as a guest on VMWare ESX. I have a site-to-site config, and a single client PC also using OpenVPN.

This has been working quite happily until this morning, when I'm seeing lots of timeouts. If I ping the OpenVPN server from my OVPN client PC, I am seeing the pings dropping for about thirty seconds or more every two minutes.

Looking at the TUN interface on the server through IFCONFIG, there are no packets being dropped.

The only event that has happened that may have some bearing on this is that the far end of the site-to-site connection has been rebooted over the weekend, but shouldn't have had any config changes.

Any tips gratefully accepted.

I'm thinking you lost some firewall rules during the reboot, give that a good lookover
