Is it possible to upgrade the openvpn binary on AS to 2.3 ?

Post by eespen » Mon Apr 01, 2013 7:14 pm

Hello

I am running OpenVPN Access Server 1.8.4, but I'm wondering is it possible to just download & compile a newer version of OpenVPN
to use as binary for the access server. For instance ver. 2.3.1 or is there any limitations going around here?

This is the version of the openvpn binary that came bundled with access server 1.8.4.
I remember briefly that there was some things in v2.1 that did not follow to 2.2 in terms of functions, am I going to be bothered by this or has it since long been fixed allready pheraps?

Code: Select all

/usr/local/openvpn_as/sbin# ./openvpn --version
OpenVPN 2.1.19 x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu [SSL] [LZO2] [EPOLL] built on Jun 18 2012
I appreciate any feedback on this matter, as well as on another topic im wondering about, how to route openvpn (client traffic) out on a specific interface/ip of the access server, rather than the system default.

topic12556.html < For that topic!

Thanks again.

No, I'm afraid that is not possible yet. However, it is being worked on although it will then be the intention to move to 1.8.5 or some other newer version number for Access Server.
I'm still alive, just posting under the openvpn_inc alias now as part of a larger group.
