Help with network setup and Xbox 360

Hello, I setup a vpn and was using openvpn on my laptop, a dell d430 with win 7, if that matters. when I connected to the vpn on my laptop it disconnected my xbox 360, that I was watching a movie on through amazon prime. When I shut off open vpn my xbox allowed me to reconnect to the internet. Here is how my network is setup. I have a cable modem with comcast. that runs to a wireless netgear router. The xbox is wired to the router and the laptop is connected through wireless. How can I set up the network so i can use my laptop and the xbox at the same time using the vpn?
