How to use dnsleaktest scripts with Win Service?

I am a relative novice to OpenVPN so I hope this is the right place to ask this but I am using OpenVPN as a Windows Service on a Windows Server 2012 to open a client vpn connection to a subscription VPN provider (AirVPN).

I have 3 scripts in the /config directory (generated using the dns fix as detailed on dnsleaktest.com) which run perfectly (pre, up and down) when using the OpenVPN client application but don't appear to run when the service starts and creates a connection or stops and closes the connection.

How can I configure my OpenVPN windows service to run these 3 scripts for pre, up and down events?
