Problems still

Post by rsenio » Fri Jan 18, 2013 3:44 pm

Where to begin. I've been using OpenVPN AS for over a month now. No matter what changes are made, the results are the same. Its setup in routing mode (rather than NAT, so LAN machines can see VPN machines) I can connect to the VPN without problems. However, randomly and without explanation routing/dns will stop working. Could be 2 minutes into a session, or could be 1 hour. Both clients are Windows 8, and I've tried running the openvpn connect as administrator. When it's working, it works great. All traffic is pushed through the VPN and since this is an AD Domain, DNS is handled by a server on the LAN. I can have a dos window up when everything is working and perform a successful nslookup on a lan hostname, 2 minutes later the same nslookup will fail. There is no reason for this to just randomly "stop". Suggestions? I'm about ready to give up on this and spend real money on a real product. Good thing I didn't buy any licenses yet

Bump. Still experiencing random DNS issues. Works one minute, fails the next. No rhyme or reason, could be fine for a 2 hour session, or could be problematic for a 10 minute session.
