Client authentication plug-in by passing tokens to server

I'd like the ability to collect user credentials using a client plug-in.

The idea would be that a credential is validated locally using something like web sso or kerberos and then a token or reference is passed to the server to be validated using the existing plug-in mechanism. This would allow enterprises to leverage their existing authentication mechanisms.
