GUI window keep-alive

Simple question - hope it's in the proper forum.

Trying to troubleshoot disconnects and would like to keep the GUI window persistent {keep it open at all times}. It closes upon connecting and also upon disconnects. Windows 7 64 bit. There must be a configuration line, but can't find a complete lexicon for config. Thanks much.
