Get a new IP from OpenVPN server?
first of all: Its quite strange, that I have to register at openvpn.net just to be linked to forums.openvpn.net to register again....
Everytime I connect to the OVPN Server, I get the same IP. Is there a config-entry or something else to ask for a new one? or is this handling done by the server and can not be influenced by the client at all?
thank you

in general this handling is done by the OpenVPN server ; the client cannot (should not!) be able to really influence this, other than to present a different certificate.

Re: Get a new IP from OpenVPN server?
but why is this the case? Who wants static IPs (beside from server usage)
- is it possible for the administrator to change that behaviour?

Re: Get a new IP from OpenVPN server?
the admin can change this behaviour using a 'client-connect' script; normally the server will try to assign the same IP address to the same client. The reason for this is that most connections will automatically be re-established, should the VPN drop out for a few seconds.
