Setting up VPNs basic questions of a newbie

Post by dmelnyk » Mon Jul 04, 2011 10:51 pm

Hi folks:

I am definitely a "newbie" with respect to VPNs and have a few questions:

Goal: My Client A has to be able to connect to various VPN servers at other clients of client A.
(i.e. accountant needs to access accounting file via VPN at various clients, does NOT
have to be simultaneous connections)

Client A is using 192.168.0.x, subnet 255.255.255.0

The other VPN "Servers" will be set up on networks which may or may not be using a similar set up - i.e 192.168.0.x, 255.255.255.0 (some may be using 192.168.1.x, 255.255.255.0) - these VPN servers can be OpenVPN servers and will be under my control to configure.

Most of the systems which will act as the OpenVPN server will be Windows XP Pro SP3 based systems, although some may be Windows 7 Pro. My Client will be using a Windows 7 Pro system running as a VM under VMware Workstation 7, running on a Windows 7 host (Both host and client are 64 bit)

Can this be accomplished using OpenVPN without having to change the basic configuration of either Client A's network setup or that of the other client's - i.e. servers.

Can anyone provide some basic configuration files for the servers / client that might be required to accomplish the above.

Best regards and thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
