Authenticate/Decrypt packet error

Post by sunilmh » Thu Jun 09, 2011 4:49 am

Hi,

vpn client log is displaying the following message very often.
This kind of message I have not observed, it's displaying from yesterday.

I have some queries , need clarity on those

1. Is it a serious error which affects my vpn connectivity ?
2. What could be the reason for this error ?
3. Need some step to overcome the issue ?
Authenticate/Decrypt packet error: bad packet ID (may be a replay): [ #1981 ] -- see the man page entry for --no-replay and --replay-window for more info or silence this warning with --mute-replay-warnings
THANKS --

if most of the traffic is getting through but you see this message (often or not) then you either have a bad internet connection or your server is being attacked. As the warning suggests, try playing with the replay parameters to see if you can make it go away.

Badly authenticated or decrypted packets will affect performance; of course, if all packets are badly authenticated (signed) or decrypted then the connectivity stops.
