OpenVPN Not working

Post by shaneystrummer » Fri Mar 18, 2011 5:24 am

I'm currently living in China and have had no problems connecting with the vpn until recently. The connection goes as far as this and then stops working no matter which city I choose:

Fri Mar 18 13:20:05 2011 OpenVPN 2.1.1 i686-pc-mingw32 [SSL] [LZO2] [PKCS11] built on Apr 21 2010
Fri Mar 18 13:20:05 2011 NOTE: OpenVPN 2.1 requires '--script-security 2' or higher to call user-defined scripts or executables
Fri Mar 18 13:20:05 2011 LZO compression initialized

Fri Mar 18 13:20:05 2011 UDPv4 link remote: 173.234.16.67:1194

Fri Mar 18 13:21:06 2011 TCP/UDP: Closing socket
Fri Mar 18 13:21:06 2011 SIGUSR1[soft,tls-error] received, process restarting

Can anyone help?

What do you mean by the "city" you choose, and what does your configuration file look like?

I'm going to step out on a limb here and make a few assumptions: It sounds like you're trying to get around the Chinese government's filters by surfing the web through a VPN/proxy server set up in another country. If so, it looks like they've figured out what you're doing, and they're blocking traffic to the domain names / IP addresses of your servers. Otherwise, your servers are down or a firewall is blocking traffic on one end of the connection or the other.

Either way, based on the log excerpt you supplied, it doesn't look like an OpenVPN issue.
