Over the years I have checked many many times on how to solve my problem and read a huge number of
threads without finding a solution.
I basically use OpenVPN to side pass geo-blocking for watching paid TV (like Netflix, Viaplay, etc.).
These are paid services for whoch I do pay, but as I am living abroad I do prefer to watch the shows
from my home country (which is generally being blocked by such TV providers).
With Windows PC and even on my Mac it works flawlessly, but with the same *.ovpn files I don't get it
working on my iPhone and iPad. All the time I do get the nasty messages that I am not allowed ot watch
from the current location ...
It seems that IOS somehow does ignore the "redirect-gateway def1" option though it does work on macOS.
Has anyone meanwhile found a real working solution for IOS?

Re: All traffic via tunnel (geo-blocking)
you could test with any "what's my ip address" website to see if iOS is truly redirecting all traffic through the VPN or not.
If it is, it's possible that iOS is sharing extra information that allow the paid services to understand where you really are (IMHO)
