sharing client user name and password

hi
we've got 3 vps server running and we want to share authentication from vps server 1 to vps server 3 can this idea possible?

I'd set up a shared LDAP server which stores all passwords; the downside is that if the LDAP server is down none of the servers can connect; an alternative solution is to set up a password file (either use pam + an /etc/shadow file or brew something yourself) and then replicate and sync that password DB across the three servers using rsync.

how can i share it?
do i need to purchase another server to use that function?

you can do this using your existing VPS servers: for LDAP , assign one of them to be the LDAP server also.
when using pam+passwords : rsync the password files across all three servers
when using a home-brewn solution : idem dito.
No need to purchase anything
