OpenVPN Support Forum

Hi! I just signed up with a service that offers OpenVPN. Unfortunately their FAQ is not that comprehensive and I am a complete beginner.

I want Open VPN to run as a service and auto-start on Win 7 (done!)
I want it to immediately log on to the service automatically, with the credentials that I got. (Not managed....)

The files I recieved from the VPN supplier were
anonine.ovpn
anonine.ca.crt

I don't want to become an expert on OpenVPN right now; just figure out how to set up this VPN the way that I want it.

Please can anyone tell me what I need to do?

Have you copied these files to your OpenVPN config directory? If I remember correctly, the path should be something along the lines of \program files (x86)\OpenVPN\config.

If not, do so. Then start the OpenVPN GUI program, right click on the icon that it will create (down by your clock) and select "connect". I imagine your configuration uses a username/password for logging in, so you should be presented with the proper dialogue for that.

the user doesnt get a dialog because openvpn is being started as a service
the only way to do this is:

however, your vpn will only be as secure as this file
