openvpn exceptions ?!!

Post by anteelsayed » Wed Dec 08, 2010 11:56 am

we know that after openvpn connect successfully it forces all applications to connects throught the newly established connection "TAP"

but is there any way to get around that and add an exception for "idm" let's say ?
so that i use firefox throught the vpn connection and use idm throught the old connection ?

thanks in advance..

openvpn does not route by app, it lets your kernel decide how to route on its own, based on its routing table.

with that said, if you decided to run a socks proxy inside openvpn (running on only the vpn ip of the server) then you could use a program like proxifier to accomplish your stated goal
