Getting the remote ip address on my client

Hello everyone
Newbie question - I've got my server set up and my client connects ok. However, when I check my IP address, my client machine still gives me its original host ip address and not that of the remote network. E.g., the remote address is 65.x.x.x, and the local address is 168.x.x.x. When I query my ip address on the local machine, I expect it to have the ip address of the remote network - e.g., 65.x.x.x. I know this can be done because I've seen it before - obviously some config option.
Hope I explained this clearly.
Thanks in advance.
